The Azadi Collection is the second rug collaboration between Totzke and acclaimed Design Director Nasim Köerting, who oversees design for the Australian-based hospitality firm Merivale.

A deeply personal collection, Azadi is rooted in Nasim’s heritage and was developed through a series of patterns and motifs synonymous with Persian design and history.

The collection features three distinct, contrasting rug designs, each reflecting Nasim’s bold and inventive design style.

Faroukh, named after Nasim’s grandmother, is woven from over 25 yarns and truly celebrates her unique approach to colour.

Jinous and Mona were fearless, powerful women whose bravery left a lasting mark on Iranian history. Two monochromatic repeat designs honour their strength, each interpreted in a different way.

A cozy living room corner featuring a wooden side table with colorful books, a decorative bowl, and a modern yellow and black desk organizer. The room has a patterned red, beige, and black rug, a red and brown patterned upholstered chair, and a plush leopard-print armchair.
Two rectangular area rugs, one with a patterned design in black, beige, and gray, and the other with a colorful plaid pattern in red, yellow, black, and beige, laid out on a concrete floor.

“Faroukh is named after my great grandmother whose boldness and strength still have an impact on my life today. The rug is an approach to a kilim rug that feels different and fresh. A classic style of rug that’s been reinterpreted.”

“These rugs feel bold and brave.

The strength of these rugs lie in the strong texture. I’m interested in how texture can be appreciated without the interference of colour.

Jinous

“I’m often interested to explore how a rug can add texture in a space where a colour isn’t the statement.”
